Sabitzer knows how much the FA Cup ‘means’

Marcel Sabitzer insists he is aware of what the FA Cup means, ahead of Sunday’s semi-final against Brighton.

United’s on-loan midfielder has played a crucial role in the FA Cup campaign to date. He scored the second goal in the huge quarter-final comeback against Fulham.

The Austrian has connected with the fans and club extremely well since his arrival in January. Sabitzer in an interview on the Official Manchester United website, explained his awareness of the importance of the FA Cup.

“I know about the meaning: it’s very important for the club and for the fans, so yeah we’re looking forward to the game and we want to go through.

“It’s always special, the knockout games. It’s nice and we all love these kind of games,”

Sabitzer also added that the team is motivated and will do everything in their power to progress to June’s final.

“We’ll give our all and we want to reach the final.”

The FA Cup marks United’s last chance to add to their silverware haul for the season, following the Europa League exit on Thursday.

Ultimately FA Cup success is pivotal for United not just for the joy of winning but also to stop Man City winning the treble. Something that looks increasingly likely by the week.

Sabitzer’s Wembley love affair

Sabitzer isn’t just excited about the game, but also another chance to go to Wembley, a stadium he describes as “the home of football.”

Sabitzer added, “It’s a special stadium. When it’s full there are about 90,000 people. It has a good atmosphere so it’s a very special place for a footballer. I enjoy it every time.”

Sabitzer will be recalling the League Cup final at Wembley earlier this season where United won the cup. Saying that to go to Wembley again and win is a huge goal for the Red Devils.

“It would be huge [to win at Wembley again] and that is our aim.”

Lately Sabitzer has been in great form (besides the Sevilla game), building a case for his loan to be made permanent in what would likely be a £20m move for the Austrian.

The big semi-final at Wembley kicks off at 16:30 on Sunday afternoon.
