Ruben Amorim has told Cristiano Ronaldo to “forget the past” following the six-time Ballon d’Or winner’s recent comments about Manchester United.
Cristiano Ronaldo slammed the Glazer family in his latest interview with Piers Morgan, reminding Manchester United fans of the horrific impact of a greedy, debt-ridden ownership model.
It has been three years since Ronaldo gave an explosive interview to Morgan, which led to his second exit from Old Trafford.
The 40-year-old left after a major falling out with Erik ten Hag, but he was less critical of the current United head coach this time around.
The Al Nassr star stressed that Amorim cannot perform “miracles” at Old Trafford, with a damning verdict of the current players, but it was only a matter of time before the coach would issue his response.

Ruben Amorim urges Cristiano Ronaldo to forget the past
Ronaldo showed support for Amorim while disregarding United’s first team, but United’s head coach was not in agreement with his compatriot.
The Portuguese superstar is aware that his comments carry weight and make headlines, so the journalists were bound to take advantage of that by pushing for a reaction from Amorim.
Amorim doesn’t want his players to dwell on Ronaldo’s comments and has told everyone – including Ronaldo – to forget ‘a little bit’ of the past.
“He knows he has a huge impact in everything he says,” Amorim told reporters at his press conference on Thursday.
“What we need to do is focus on the future. We know that we, as a club, made a lot of mistakes in the past, but we are trying to change that. So let’s not focus on what happened.
“Let’s focus on what we are doing now, and we are doing that. We are changing a lot of things in the structure, the way we do things, that we want the players to behave. We are doing that, and we are improving.
“So let’s focus on the way we are doing things; we are improving. Let’s continue and forget a little bit [about] the past.”
Amorim knows that nothing will change for the better unless everyone at United changes their mindset. He must also protect his players when outside influencers, like Ronaldo, try to drag the team down.
That is why he is spot on to come out and advise Ronaldo to move on, forget about the past, and perhaps take a less bitter approach when talking about his former club that served him well in the early stages of his career.
Cristiano Ronaldo wants to meet Donald Trump
In the same interview with Morgan, Ronaldo stressed that American President Donald Trump is one person he wants to meet.
Ronaldo offered to meet Trump in Saudi Arabia or the United States.
He said: “He is one of the guys that can change or help to change the world… He’s one of the guys I want to meet. I wish one day if you have an opportunity. Make that happen or tell him that one of the guys that I want to sit to have a nice talk – here or in the US, wherever he wants.
“He don’t know that we had something in common and something that we share…But not in your interview… You’re gonna like it!”
