Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim has dropped an eye-opening insight into the Red Devils ahead of the summer window and the start of the post-season tour.
The Red Devils will return to action on Wednesday when they face ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Malaysia for a friendly match on their tour.
The start of the pre-season tour comes only days after Manchester United defeated Aston Villa 2-0 at Old Trafford in their final Premier League match of the season.
United’s win over Aston Villa at home on Sunday evening moved the Red Devils to 15th place in the Premier League table for the 2024-25 campaign.
The Red Devils only managed 11 wins from 38 Premier League matches in their woeful season and United suffered 18 defeats alone in the league.
Ruben Amorim’s men signed off their campaign with their worst finish in the Premier League era and the Red Devils will be without European football next season.
The 40-year-old United manager faces a mammoth task at Old Trafford and will be under pressure for the Red Devils to make a strong start to the 2025-26 campaign.

Ruben Amorim opens up on Man Utd’s two plans ahead of the pre-season tour clash against ASEAN All-Stars
Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Tuesday, Ruben Amorim touched on Manchester United’s failure to secure Champions League football.
The Red Devils came within touching distance of securing a route back to the Champions League after United reached the 2025 Europa League final in Spain.
United met Tottenham in the Europa League final in Bilbao and Premier League side Spurs defeated the Red Devils 1-0 at the San Mames Stadium last Wednesday.
The Red Devils have now missed out on securing the lucrative financial incentives that would have come from United playing in the Champions League next season.
However, Amorim revealed that United have had “two plans” prepared and one was built on having Champions League football and the other was for one without it.
“Omar [Berrada] is here, he can explain better than me,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.
“We always prepare two plans, one with [the] Champions League, one without [the] Champions League.
“Without Champions League, we don’t need a big squad, we can control the squad in a better way, then we have a plan that is to bring some new players, of course, but our big plan is to improve the team that we have, is to improve our academy, that is the future, is not going to change so much because we have the FFP rules, we are not allowed to do much this summer.”
What Ruben Amorim has now noticed about Man Utd after the end of the 2024-25 season at Old Trafford
Amorim admitted that United would “struggle” and it would take time for his plans to unfold at Old Trafford after a turbulent 2024-25 Premier League campaign.
However, the former Sporting CP boss is convinced that he is seeing United ‘improve’ as a team and that is the “most important” factor for him.
“It’s important to stick together,” Amorim added.
“We are going to struggle; it is not going to be everything right away, but I see the team improving and that is the most important thing.”
The friendly match between United and ASEAN All-Stars at the Bukit Jalil National Stadium in Malaysia is slated for a 1:45pm kick-off time in the UK.
