The 26-year-old Brazilian suffered an injury in training ahead of United’s shock 1-0 defeat to 10-man Everton in the Premier League clash at Old Trafford last week.
Summer signing Cunha was also sidelined for United’s 2-1 comeback win over Crystal Palace in the Premier League clash at Selhurst Park on Sunday afternoon.
The former Wolves ace has been a key player for United manager Amorim since his stunning move from the Molineux back in the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim was at the Carrington training complex on Wednesday afternoon and the 40-year-old Portuguese head coach provided an update on several players.
However, the ex-Sporting CP manager was cryptic on the identity of two Manchester United first-team players, who had both been labelled as “doubts” for the match.
“We have two doubts for the game, it will change the way we’re going to approach it, let’s see if they can play,” he said, as per the Manchester Evening News.

Amorim confirmed a major positive for the Red Devils going into the West Ham clash on Thursday, with Matheus Cunha now back for United after his injury setback.
“The rest of the squad is good. Matheus is back,” he added.
Benjamin Sesko has been out with a knee injury and Harry Maguire has been sidelined by a hamstring injury, with Amorim confirming the pair are still unavailable.
“Harry and Sesko are still out,” he continued.

Cunha has only netted once in 11 matches across all competitions since his arrival at Old Trafford, despite being a positive and lively attacking influence on the pitch.
Amorim is a big fan of the Brazil star and talked up the importance of Cunha’s role in his tactical system, but he admitted that he wants to see more from the forward.

“He has more levels to go,” he said.
“He’s at a different club, different pressure, he was struggling because he was not scoring, he was thinking too much about the numbers, but the influence he has in the team is important to us.”
United and West Ham’s Premier League clash is slated for an 8pm kick-off time in the UK at Old Trafford on Thursday.
