Ruben Amorim is demanding results in the Premier League, even though the focus at Manchester United has shifted towards the Europa League.
After a turbulent campaign domestically, Manchester United have nothing to play for in the Premier League and could finish the season as low as 17th.
At least United fans have had more to sing about in Europe since the Red Devils are the only unbeaten team left in the Europa League, after reaching the semi-finals.
The Europa League takes priority because it’s the only route back into the Champions League, which would significantly enhance United’s spending power in the transfer window this summer.
Last time out, United lost 1-0 to Wolves after Amorim rotated his side and he is expected to do that in the remaining league matches to ensure he doesn’t put his players at risk of additional injuries that would rule them out of the European campaign.

Rubem Amorim wants to win every match
United are winless in their last four league matches – since beating Leicester City 3-0 on 16 March – but they have a chance to change that against Bournemouth on Sunday.
It doesn’t look good for Amorim, though he is not a head coach who looks for excuses. Instead, he is focused on building his team for the future and warned in the past that it would be a bumpy road at first.
At Friday’s press conference, one reporter asked Amorim if he cared about United’s position in the league now that they are safe from relegation.
Amorim stressed that he wants to raise standards at Old Trafford and he feels that Ineos are understanding of the current situation.
“We have to win every game and every game is important,” Amorim told reporters. “We have to put our standards, even without winning, really high.
“I feel the board understand the context and what we want to do. Our idea is really clear.
“I am critical because we are not winning games and we are Manchester United and near the bottom.”
Amorim was pushed further on the initial question when he was reminded there was nothing to play for in Sunday’s game.
He added: “The focus is we have to face it and we need to have that feeling every game here is important and we have to win every game, important not to lose. Of course, you see the context. We are going to face this game with the best team, we had a full week to prepare, some of the players didn’t play against Wolves so recover the players is not a bad thing. I will try to prepare for this game and try and win the next one.”
Manchester United’s worst Premier League season to date
There has been nothing to sugar coat United’s abysmal domestic campaign.
The Red Devils are on 38 points with five games remaining.
| Position | Team | Played MP | Won W | Drawn D | Lost L | For GF | Against GA | Diff GD | Points Pts |

| 16 | 33 | 11 | 4 | 18 | 61 | 51 | 10 | 37 |
Even if United take maximum points from the last five matches, they will not reach the 58 points they managed in 2021/22 when Ralf Rangnick replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim manager.
