Ruben Amorim is happy to have two big signings in time for the pre-season tour of the United States.

Manchester United are preparing to embark on a big season after a turbulent campaign for Ruben Amorim in 2025/26.

The Red Devils lost the Europa League final and finished 15th in the Premier League, but they are now in the US preparing for a new chapter under the head coach, which starts competitively later next month.

United drew 0-0 with Leeds in Stockholm last week to kick-start their pre-season preparations.

Amorim’s side will now face West Ham in their opening game of the Summer Series in the US at the MetLife Stadium in New Jersey on Sunday morning.

Ruben Amorim happy to have new signings for pre-season

The media had to wait almost an hour for Amorim and Matheus Cunha to arrive for the press conference in Chicago this evening.

Cunha, taking questions from the media for the first time as a United player, sat with a smile on his face alongside Amorim.

The Brazil international featured against Leeds and will be aiming to play again on Sunday against the Hammers.

Reporters took the first opportunity they had to ask Amorim about having Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo with the squad on tour.

“Really pleased,” Amorim told reporters.

It’s important to sign players as soon as possible. They’ve proved already in the Premier League. Matheus can play in different positions so you can change the starting XI.”

Amorim’s comments send clear message to Ineos

Amorim stressed that he is ‘pleased’ to have two big attacking signings in ready to prepare for the new season.

Ineos should see this as a message for the rest of the summer because Amorim will clearly want the rest of his new signings in and given time to settle before the competitive season begins.

United have also added Diego Leon to the squad from Cerro Porteno.
