Ruben Amorim points out what really annoyed him after Ipswich draw, he’s already tackled it

If there was ever an anti-climax set for Ruben Amorim’s Manchester United managerial debut, this 1-1 draw was the most deflating of all.

Not only were the fans forced to fall back to earth after a dream start to the game, they were treated to glimpses of the Man Utd which got Erik ten Hag sacked.

Of course, there were clear signs of what Ruben Amorim is trying to do as well but if this game taught anyone anything, it is that the manager has got a job and a half on his hands.

Being Man Utd manager is more than just sorting out the tactics and implementing a system and after the draw against Ipswich, Amorim pointed out the most frustrating aspect.

Ruben Amorim’s big frustration at Man Utd

The thought process behind bringing Amorim in during the international break was that he would get two weeks to get used to the place without the glare of preparing for an immediate game.

However, what happened instead is that the vacuum that the international break brings was filled with Amorim news and even though he didn’t participate much in it, the scrutiny was intense.

That only ramped up further once he started participating in it.

His pre-match press conference was his first media interaction and that was followed by interviews with Sky Sports, the club channel, and then numerous broadcasters after the game too.

Looking like a frustrated man, Amori finally let it rip after the Ipswich draw, saying this is the last time he agrees to do so many media commitments.

He said: “This is the last time. This week I spoke more than four years in Sporting. When you speak too much and don’t win it’s really hard for everybody.

“So, it was one week and only one week. I already spoke with Andrew [Man Utd communications officer] that I just want to work with my players. Nothing more. I understand it’s a different game here so let’s see.”

The way forward for Ruben Amorim

While it can be said that it’s not a good early sign that Amorim is already frustrated with the amount of media duties, since that comes with the job of Man Utd manager, there’s another way of looking at it as well.

It is that he’s open and clear about what he wants and is already taking steps to address it before it consumes him and hinders his ability to work.

Speaking continuously about needing time, projects, injuries, and past glories is what turned the Man Utd fans against Erik ten Hag, and Amorim has figured that out perfectly.

Ultimately, the results will speak for themselves and if thinks that will happen with lesser media duties, then the club shouldn’t think twice about accommodating his request.

Nobody (relevant) will ask him why he isn’t doing media duties if the team is scoring more goals than the opposition on a matchday!
