Ruben Amorim has downplayed suggestions that Marcus Rashford has become a distraction after being left out of the previous three matchday squads.
Marcus Rashford revealed he is ready for a new challenge to journalist Henry Winter and has not been in a matchday squad since.
It feels like we’ve reached a point of no return after Rashford made his unhappiness clear to the public. To make matters more uncertain, Manchester United fans have yet to find out when he can expect to return to the team.
With Rashford struggling on the pitch over the past two years, off the back of a 30-goal season, it’s a shame that his time at the club could end this way. Another way of looking at it is the 27-year-old wouldn’t be the first player to leave Old Trafford under a grey cloud.
There’s additional emotion behind this potential exit because Rashford is a Manchester United academy graduate, therefore, his future shouldn’t be elsewhere. He must prove himself under Ruben Amorim or consider his future.

Ruben Amorim prioritises team over Marcus Rashford
Rashford is learning the hard way, but Amorim is setting his stalls out and it refreshingly means he will prioritise United’s first team over any individuals.
There has been non-stop speculation over Rashford’s future again this week, so Amorim was asked about the situation ahead of United’s trip to Wolves in the Premier League.
Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference, Amorim said: “[It’s a] normal situation. When I feel that it’s the right moment I will change something. Until then I will continue to think what is the best for the team.
“I speak with him every day. Not about the interview, about the performance.”
Amorim added that Rashford wants to play, but he’ll make the decision on when he should return to United’s first-team.
“I spoke with a lot of players – individually, during training – so I’m trying to do things… I am doing things my way,” he continued.
“And it’s the only way I know.
“If I don’t do that I will lose myself and I will not lose myself. I know what I’m doing.”
Ruben Amorim wants to avoid Erik ten Hag mistakes
Erik ten Hag was guilty of losing himself at Old Trafford.
Unlike his successful Ajax side, United had no identity on the pitch and he eventually tried to make us a transitional team – that ultimately struggled to defend.
Amorim won’t let the pressure get to him early on and he has spoken logically about every situation that has been thrown his way.
Ten Hag also made mistakes in the transfer window which Amorim will want to avoid. He’ll at least have a better support network around him thanks to Ineos.
These mistakes led to Ten Hag getting the sack earlier this season.
