Manchester United suffered their 18th Premier League defeat at the hands of Chelsea on Friday night.

After a bright start, which included Harry Maguire sending a half-volley into the back of the net, albeit overruled for offside, Manchester United gradually lost their grip on the game.

Chelsea had more at stake as a strong finish in the Premier League could grant them a place in the Champions League. On the other hand, United were already focused on Wednesday night’s Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur.

After a terrible start to the 2024/25 campaign, United never got going and now they are seeing off league games hoping to avoid any injuries that would derail their chances in Europe.

That didn’t stop Ruben Amorim from naming a strong team against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge as he looked to ensure that all of his key players are fully match sharp for the final in Bilbao.

Ruben Amorim provides fitness update after Chelsea defeat

The main objective on Friday night for United was to come away from Stamford Bridge without any fresh injuries.

United not only achieved that, but also welcomed back Ayden Heaven to competitive action.

That means Heaven will be in contention to play in the Europa League final.

However, United are still waiting to find out whether they will have Leny Yoro, Matthijs de Ligt or Diogo Dalot available for the final.

Speaking to reporters after United’s 1-0 defeat to Chelsea, Amorim said: “Yeah, yeah, what I saw in the dressing room, I think everybody is fit and ready to go.”

That means United fans can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that the squad shouldn’t have any more setbacks before the final.

United’s head coach will hope to have good news regarding Yoro, De Ligt and Dalot in the coming days.

Manchester United injury list ahead of Europa League final

Injuries have been a problem for United throughout the season.

Amorim recently welcomed back players like Kobbie Mainoo, Mason Mount and Amad Diallo after long spells out.

United also have players who have already been ruled out for the remainder of the season, such as Lisandro Martinez and Joshua Zirkzee.

With a bit of hope, the full list will be shortened by the time the 2025/26 campaign kicks off in August.
