Ruben Amorim has set a challenge for new signing Matheus Cunha following his incredible performance away at Liverpool last week.
It has been a long week without European football for Manchester United, but the mood is high among fans after Ruben Amorim’s side won back-to-back games in the Premier League for the first time.
United beat Liverpool 2-1 to achieve that, but the intentions now are to make it three consecutive wins when Brighton visits Old Trafford this evening.
The trip to visit ended with late drama as Harry Maguire scored the winner with a header at the back post. It was the perfect response to Cody Gakpo’s equaliser, after Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring with a sublime goal at the very start.
Now, United must build on that, and Amorim is demanding that his players show consistency in their performances if they want better results on the pitch.

Ruben Amorim sets Matheus Cunha challenge
Amorim has high expectations for Matheus Cunha, but that is why United brought him from Wolves in the summer.
Cunha was one of the best performers at Anfield last week, and it’s clear to see his influence on the team is growing after overcoming an early-season injury.
Amorim is demanding that Cunha performs like he did against Liverpool when United host Brighton at 5.30pm, while acknowledging that big games bring the best out of him.
“He brings something that is hard for us to point [at], it’s not just the ability and the talent,” Amorim told MUTV in an exclusive interview.
“He has something that he is really comfortable playing in this kind of environment. He can take our team forward.
“He needs to improve a lot of things, especially defending, but he has something special and he is a really important player for us.
“He can play in different positions, so I expect the same in the next game because, in our club, it’s really important to show it in every week.”
If United can get consistency out of their star players, the team will become more consistent as a result. We have been far too reliant on Bruno Fernandes over the years, but it now appears as though there are other players capable of taking a share of the responsibility.
Matheus Cunha looking to end goalscoring drought
The Brazil international is still looking for his first goal in a United shirt.
It says a lot about Cunha’s performances that he is getting widespread praise without scoring goals or registering assists.
Cunha scored against Brighton during his time at Wolves, and it would be the perfect time to open his account for the Red Devils.
The main objective, however, is for United to get three points.
