Manchester United legend Gary Neville quizzed Roy Keane’s stance on Marcus Rashford after the Sky Sports pundit was unsure of the player’s “whole package.”
Rashford was dropped to the bench for United’s 2-1 win over Chelsea at Old Trafford on Wednesday, with the Red Devils star struggling with his form this season.
The 26-year-old United forward, who inked a new contract last summer, has scored only twice and registered two assists in 14 Premier League appearances so far.
Rashford’s rich vein of form from last season has been missed at United in the current campaign, with the England star now fighting for his place in the first-team XI.

Keane tells Neville his stance on Rashford
Speaking on The Overlap, Neville asked Jamie Carragher, Ian Wright and Keane over which United players they would keep and sell amid Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover bid.
The United legend, who conjured a theory on why Anthony Martial wasn’t sold, brought up Rashford’s name and asked the trio where they stood on him.
Neville, Carragher and Wright all agreed they would keep Rashford at the club, but Keane admitted he was unsure if he would stick with the England international.
“I wouldn’t be sure about Marcus,” Keane said on the Stick to Football show.
“His package. The whole package. The personality, his mood swings, he’s… again, I don’t… he’s a talented player but if you’re not gonna work hard and he’s having these dips every now and again and there’s all this talk about his confidence, off the field stuff, it seems to be constant with him.
“Just turn up every week and do the business.”
United will stick with Rashford going forward
Even after Ratcliffe’s minority stake in United is ratified, Rashford’s name will likely be one of the last names on the chopping block from the Red Devils’ first team.
Rashford is the poster child for United and has been backed by Erik ten Hag, with the Three Lions international previously favoured by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
The United forward’s new long-term deal was a reward for his stunning run of form after England’s 2022 World Cup campaign in Qatar.
Rashford can offer a lot of versatility to Ten Hag and the United boss’ decision to drop him might be an uplift for the player to work his way back into the starting XI.
Despite his run of form, Neville, Carragher and Wright all felt the same way about Rashford and their stance on keeping him shows why people think so highly of him.
