Roy Keane is often named as the ideal captain and among the best in Manchester United history, now he’s once again shown his class.
Manchester United let Ole Gunnar Solskjaer go as manager over two years ago now and his sacking was one which clearly hit him hard.
Following his dismissal, he had a sit-down interview in which he spoke about his love for the club and was clearly distraught over losing his manager position.
Now though, he and Roy Keane have recalled the story of Keane’s class act gesture to Ole, showing he is still the man who was the excellent captain over 20 years ago

Roy Keane shows class with how he helped Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Speaking to each other on the Stick to Football podcast, Keane and Solskjaer told the story of when the former United captain went to visit the Norweigan in his hometown after being sacked at Old Trafford.
“I went to visit you last year didn’t I… drove eight hours to see you. We fancied a trip, obviously I knew he was feeling a bit low so I thought I’d cheer him up. So yeah I drove up it was lovely.”
Ole replied, telling the others that, “The thing you need to know, is getting to Kristiansand isn’t the easiest, so I knew he wasn’t going to come, no chance he’s coming.
“He flew to Oslo, I went ‘Do you want me to help organise the next bit? no no no I’ll be fine, I’ll drive’ So I thought no chance he won’t drive. Monday morning about 7 o’clock or whatever you text ‘I’m on my way’, I thought ‘oh for ____-sake.”
“Eight, nine hours”, Ole then told Ian Wright when he asked.
“Nice Volvo Estate,” Keane then added, “Beautiful, no it was lovely”.
Keane shows why he’s one of Manchester United’s greatest captains
Nobody can doubt for a minute that Keane is an excellent leader and his qualities lend themselves perfectly to being a captain of United.
Going to see Ole in Norway to cheer him up after his departure from United just oozes class and it’s easy to see why all of Keane’s teammates loved him.
Always looking out for his men, Keane has shown his class and we could only dream of having a captain like him right now.
