Roy Keane reacts after seeing ‘scary’ statistic about Ten Hag’s Manchester United

Roy Keane has admitted that Manchester United’s record of 11 Premier League defeats this season is simply ‘scary’.

United fans were probably in dreamland at 3:38pm this Sunday.

Marcus Rashford slammed home a stunning goal to put United 1-0 up against Manchester City.

Few were giving United hope at the Etihad Stadium but that opening goal sparked real belief of a victory.

It just wasn’t to be though as United ended up losing 3-1, conceding three second-half goals to end up clearly second-best.

Roy Keane on ‘scary’ Manchester United stat

That means United have now lost 11 Premier League games this season.

United lost 10 games across two seasons between 2005 and 2007, so this kind of record really isn’t what fans are wanting to see.

The record in the whole of last season was nine defeats, so losing 11 this term feels like a major step back.

Roy Keane really isn’t impressed, telling Sky Sports (03/03, 5:45pm) that a United side losing 11 games at this stage in a season is ‘scary’.

Keane feels that United have given up so many goals this season and ended the game looking like boys playing against men, making major mistakes in the face of City pressure.

“That’s 11 league games they’ve lost – that’s one scary stat, when you consider… you look at United, giving up so many goals in defeats. The last 20-25 minutes, City were… well, it was men v boys at the end, they were just hanging in there and making mistakes,” he added.

Champions League race – the latest

United’s defeat came at a bad time as both Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur won this weekend.

Villa bagged a late winner against Luton Town whilst Tottenham came from behind to beat Crystal Palace.

That leaves United six points behind Tottenham, who have a game in hand, and 11 points behind Villa.

United’s situation looked positive after beating Villa but the gaps have opened up again.

The one saving grace is that Villa and Spurs meet each other next weekend, so one of them will be dropping points.

United have to be ready to pounce and must bounce back after another chastening derby day.
