Jadon Sancho marked his first ever game for Manchester United away at City with a goal.

Sancho curled in an effort into the bottom corner to equalise for United midway through the first half, after an incisive cross-field pass from Paul Pogba.

The celebration from Sancho was understated against his former club, but he was clearly delighted.

Former United captian Roy Keane was impressed. He told Sky Sports’ coverage: “Lovely, absolutely beautiful. United deserved it.

“When they have gone forward they have looked really dangerous. Sancho with a brilliant finish against a quality goalkeeper.”

Sancho’s goal was also enjoyed by his former Borussia Dortmund teammate Jude Bellingham, who posted a message on Twitter labelling him a ‘big game player’.

Keane was less complimentary about United’s defending, with Sancho’s goal coming between two strikes from City which meant the Red Devils went in 2-1 down at half-time.

The Irishman said: “Too casual. So frustrating. The concentration and intensity for the two goals is nowhere near good enough.”

United went into the game needing to win to keep pace in the race for the top four. A defeat leaves United in fifth, one point behind Arsenal, who have played three games left.
