Roy Keane highlights one ‘really worrying’ Man Utd player v City

Roy Keane has highlighted an area of concern for Manchester United and it was emphasised by the ease with which Manchester City scored their third.

The former Manchester United icon was less than impressed with the ease with which Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City carved through the Red Devils.

Christian Eriksen, in particular, was like a ghost in the midfield for the third goal as Rodri waltzed through the United midfield with ease and his shot forced the save by Andre Onana and the eventual follow-up by Phil Foden.

Speaking on Sky Sports after the game, Roy Keane was less than happy with the way the Red Devils succumbed to the third goal and ended any hope of a revival.

Keane’s thoughts

“That’s a really worrying thing for me with United it’s the lack of physicality, look at how easily Eriksen was bypassed, it’s a worry,” Keane said in the aftermath of the demolition at Old Trafford.

It’s hard to disagree with the Irish midfielder’s assessment of the situation and the lack of physicality was truly highlighted by the Dane, who may well be dropped for Wednesday’s Carabao Cup match.

The midfielder’s inclusion in a game where United won’t see much of the ball was certainly a risk and it was a risk that didn’t pay off.

United’s lack of physicality

The Dane’s struggles in midfield are perhaps a sign of the bigger issues at the club, mainly the fitness, or lack of, in the club.

The amount of injuries at the club this season, could well be bad luck but the sheer amount of muscle injuries within the squad, in particular, is a worry.

This has to be down to the club’s management of the players and the sheer amount of running that Ten Hag and his coaching staff have the players do.

Despite how much they do, the players don’t look physically fit, which is the biggest concern.
