Roy Keane has attempted to give his advice to Kobbie Mainoo who struggled for Manchester United against Tottenham Hotspur.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United were held to a 2-2 draw against Ange Postecoglou’s Tottenham Hotspur at Old Trafford but were in front during the game on two separate occasions but failed to hold on to their victory.
Kobbie Mainoo was handed yet another start in the Premier League for United but it was arguably the 18-year-old’s most disappointing performance in a Red Devils shirt.
The teenager started alongside Christian Eriksen and Bruno Fernandes but the North London club were dominant in the middle of the park and the 18-year-old struggled to keep up with the experienced engine room of Spurs.

Keane’s advice to MainooKeane’s advice to Mainoo
Speaking on Sky Sports after the draw against Tottenham, former United captain Roy Keane, who made his name as one of the best defensive midfielders in the country, had some advice for the talented teenager.
“Sometimes in football, and Paul Scholes was very good at this, you just have to stand still and read the game sometimes,” Keane said on the midfielder’s performance, particularly the second Spurs goal. “He’s a young kid but he sold himself too quickly there.
“I didn’t learn the game as a defensive midfielder until my late twenties so he’s got plenty to learn but he’s just a young kid. He’s just got to stand there and look at what’s going on around you.”
It was a tough game for the teenage midfielder at Old Trafford but these are experiences that will develop him into a better player in the future and he will learn from this.
United’s midfield needs Casemiro
Fans were certainly happy to see Casemiro back in the squad and the experience that the former Real Madrid midfielder would bring to the engine room is much needed.
Eriksen started against his former side but the lack of physicality and defensive nous from the Danish midfielder was on show for all to see as Mainoo was, at times, left with it all to do in the middle of the park..
Despite Casemiro’s struggles this season, the 31-year-old could help Mainoo and help aide the teenager’s development for the Red Devils.
