Sir Jim Ratcliffe was in attendance as Manchester United drew 2-2 to Tottenham Hotspur.
Manchester United‘s new part-owner has a hell of a job on his hands after taking over at Old Trafford. Sir Jim Ratcliffe is tasked with controlling the footballing operations at the club.
It’s a job that simply isn’t a quick fix. Manchester United have been a club in a bit of a state since Sir Alex Ferguson retired.
Nevertheless, Ratcliffe has committed and his journey as United’s co-owner begins now in 2024.

Roy Keane’s advice to Sir Jim Ratcliffe
Many wouldn’t be man enough to take on the task, and prominent figures around the club will be commending the British billionaire for stepping up.
This includes Roy Keane. Before the fixture against Tottenham Hotspur, Keane spoke on Sky Sports Main Event about the new co-owner.
He was asked what advice he’d give to Ratcliffe after taking over, to which he replied with an initial five-word response: “How long have you got?”
A very telling response from Keane, which epitomises the sheer amount of issues at the club currently. However, the Manchester United legend did continue with a few more words of encouragement for Sir Jim.
“This is going to take time,” Keane begins. “We are hoping there is going to be new, better decision-making at the club, particularly in regard to recruitment. Currently, it’s not been good enough, the fees they’ve been paying, the contracts they’ve been handing out. But he’s got to be given time.”
Time. A word that’s been thrown around a lot at United, especially with Erik ten Hag at the moment – who also commented on Ratcliffe being present against Spurs.

In his post-match interview, Ten Hag was also asked about how he felt Ratcliffe would be feeling after seeing his newly owned squad take a point against Tottenham. Ten Hag replied:
“He will have seen a team fighting for each other and trying to get a win. He will have seen two great goals.”
You can’t fault that. Ratcliffe will have seen signs of promise, but will also know the hard work is yet to come. A lot of Ratcliffe’s influence will come to fruition in the summer transfer window, but for now, he can sit back and (try to) enjoy United games in the meantime.
