Manchester United legend Roy Keane made a telling prediction that went unnoticed by Gary Neville and Ian Wright during England’s 2-1 win over the Netherlands at Euro 2024.
The Three Lions punched their ticket to the final of Euro 2024 on Sunday after coming from 1-0 down in their semi-final clash in Dortmund on Wednesday evening.
Highly rated Dutch prospect Xavi Simons fired the Netherlands into the lead in the opening 10 minutes with a stunning finish at the Westfalenstadion.
However, England climbed back into the contest after Harry Kane was awarded a controversial penalty and the Bayern Munich striker converted from the spot-kick.
Ollie Watkins was the man of the hour for England in the semi-final tie after he came off the bench in the second half and scored in the 90th minute.
England, who were considered one of the favourites at Euro 2024, will now travel to the Olympiastadion in Berlin on 14th July for their showdown with Spain.
Spain are widely regarded as the favourites going into the final of this summer’s Euros after an impressive undefeated campaign at the UEFA tournament.
Man Utd Keane made England prediction
Roy Keane was on ITV punditry duties for the Euro 2024 semi-final match alongside former England internationals Gary Neville and Ian Wright.
ITV has since posted footage on Instagram of behind-the-scenes footage in the dying stages of England’s 2-1 win against the Netherlands.
Neville and Wright watched the match on the edge of their seats while Keane prophetically made the claim that England would score against the Dutch.
Speaking during the match live, Keane said: “There’s a goal coming here. That little touch…”
Neville and Wright didn’t even respond to the former Manchester United captain’s analysis before leaping out of their seats when Ollie Watkins scored for England.
After celebrating with Wright, Neville said: “Oh my God. F*****g hell! Wow.”
Arsenal legend Wright added: “What a substitution.”
Keane was stood in the background amid Neville and Wright’s celebrations and the Irishman could be heard asking, “Offside?”
The United legend subsequently added: “[Declan] Rice got lucky there.”
Keane took shots at England ahead of Netherlands win
Keane pulled no punches towards England before the semi-final win and called out their “arrogance” amid their lack of silverware since the 1966 World Cup.
England have reached their second consecutive European Championship final under Gareth Southgate, despite underwhelming with their performances at Euro 2024.
“You talk about England not having won anything for 30, 40 years, that’s not on this group of players,” Keane said on ITV.
“Focus on winning the game of football and history will take care of itself.
“When you talk about the weight of the jersey, I think there’s a bit of arrogance that comes with that.
“The consequences of a mistake, that is part of top-level sport, you have to deal with that and over the years maybe they haven’t done that well enough.”
