Rio Ferdinand shuts down debate by claiming ex-Man Utd teammate didn’t have ‘flaw’ in his playing style

TNT Sports pundit Rio Ferdinand has insisted that one of his former England and Manchester United teammates “didn’t have a flaw” in his playing style.

Ferdinand played alongside several world-class talents during his time at United, including the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Paul Scholes and Wayne Rooney.

The footballer-turned-pundit enjoyed a prolific career at Old Trafford and captured an abundance of major silverware under the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson.

Ferdinand has spoken highly of some of his underrated teammates in the past, including one former United star who should have played more for his country.

The 45-year-old also praised one ex-club teammate who could have improved four players for England, with Ferdinand being capped 81 times for the Three Lions.

During his time representing both club and country, Ferdinand crossed paths with one United legend who he considered a ‘flawless’ player for his playing style alone.

Ferdinand talks up ‘flawless’ David Beckham

Ferdinand briefly shared the pitch with David Beckham at Old Trafford before his fellow United legend was sold to Real Madrid for £24.5m in 2003.

Despite Beckham’s move to the La Liga outfit, Ferdinand would continue to play alongside his former United teammate while representing the Three Lions.

Ferdinand has previously praised Beckham’s flair and creativity, with the ex-England defender claiming only one player in the Premier League is comparable to him.

Beckham’s sensational passing ability and world-class crossing ability have often been used in bold comparisons with current Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold.

During a debate around Trent being the ‘new Beckham’ on his YouTube channel, Ferdinand claimed that his ex-United and England teammate “didn’t have a flaw.”

Speaking on VIBE with FIVE, Ferdinand said: “Becks didn’t have a flaw in his game. What was Becks’ flaw in his game?”

Trent is not in the same league as Beckham

Beckham has been targeted far too often after his illustrious playing career, with the former United winger being hit with lazy criticism from fans and pundits.

The 48-year-old ex-United superstar was a superbly influential figure for Ferguson on the pitch and would have a deep impact for the Red Devils during key matches.

Beckham, whose life on and off the pitch was the subject of a Netflix documentary, is widely praised by his ex-United teammates amid ‘overrated’ labels thrown at him.

Trent might be influential for Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, but the Reds defender is a long way off from being seen as the ‘new Beckham’ in the world of football.
