Rio Ferdinand has shut down claims linking him with forming part of Erik ten Hag’s coaching team at Manchester United.
The Ajax coach has held an interview with Manchester United over the vacant manager’s job, the Telegraph report.
The Express reported earlier today that United legends Ferdinand and Robin van Persie both want to form a part of ten Hag’s coaching staff.
But the Red Devils former centre-back has quickly downplayed those rumours with an emphatic response on social media.
Ever since retiring from professional football, Ferdinand has stayed involved in the game as a pundit for BT Sport and has started his own weekly podcast called ‘VIBE with Five’.
In those podcasts, Ferdinand has spoken openly about the troubles Manchester United are enduring and has used that as a platform to call-out the United players when their performances have not been up to scratch.

The former England international doesn’t have any coaching experience at professional level so it would have been a massive surprise to see him be included in ten Hag’s setup.
Despite ten Hag seemingly being in the driving seat to become Manchester United’s next permanent manager, another former Red Gary Neville has declared that Mauricio Pochettino would get his vote over the Dutchman.
Following Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s sacking in November, the Manchester United hierarchy have been putting plans in place to find the Norwegian’s permanent replacement.
Ralf Rangnick has been in interim charge after Michael Carrick oversaw three games in caretaker charge.
The German is expected to move upstairs at the end of the season and take up a two-year consultancy role.
