Manchester United, and Erik ten Hag have a huge week of football coming up.
After what was a depleting loss against Old Trafford on Saturday, Manchester United now have two massive fixtures coming up.
The first is an FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest, which if ending in a loss – means there is no hope for a trophy at the end of this season.
Then, it’s the big one, a trip to the Etihad for the Manchester derby against Pep Guardiola’s side. Rio Ferdinand is not confident.
Rio Ferdinand makes Manchester derby prediction
Speaking on the Vibe with Five podcast, legendary Manchester United centre-back Ferdinand was asked to predict the score in the upcoming Manchester derby.
Whilst he didn’t say an exact scoreline, Rio predicts that it’s not going to be a good day for the Red Devils.
“It’s gonna be a long day man. It’s gonna be a long day,” he begins. “The Etihad, it’s hard enough to go there anyway, but we’re going there with no confidence. I think we’ll get beat by two goals. Beat by two goals. Convincingly.”
Gulp. Ferdinand doesn’t think United even stand a chance against the Cityzen’s.
A huge week for the future of Erik ten Hag
This next week could be a huge factor as to whether Ten Hag remains at the helm of Manchester United next season.
With Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s comments in midweek and his already no-nonsense nature indicating he’s not afraid to make changes around Old Trafford – Ten Hag needs to tread carefully.
A win in the cup and a decent display at the very least against City simply has to happen, otherwise, fans, media and the United board alike will be all over the Dutchman like a rash in the coming weeks.
