Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo have looked like they belong at Man Utd from the first minute, but their presence has also changed the squad in one way, as per Rio Ferdinand.

The story of the season for Man Utd has been the immediate return they’ve received by signing two Premier League-proven players.

Matheus Cunha thrills, while Bryan Mbeumo just devours, and together, they’ve transformed an anaemic attack of last season.

The change they’ve brought about is sensational, but it’s not just because of their own form. As per Rio Ferdinand, the squad has changed in a major way since their arrival.

Rio Ferdinand on Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo’s impact

Cunha has been compared to Eric Cantona by Omar Berrada, and part of it was down to his maverick personality of leading from the front.

Mbeumo is a more silent presence, but his game talks loudly on the pitch, which is what matters the most.

Together, United have managed to engineer a tremendous upgrade on the options they had previously, and it has happened to such an extent that the whole squad looks transformed.

Ferdinand, speaking on his YouTube channel, said that the sheer confidence they exude has started flowing through the team.

He said: “I think a huge thing has been the acquisition of Cunha and Mbeumo because they are really very good, first of all, football guys in terms of loving football.

“They’re tactically very astute, and they have a real good confidence that they brought to the squad that is really, I think, feeding through the team.”

Ruben Amorim is driving a reset at Man Utd

Mbeumo and Cunha are getting the flowers they deserve, but Ruben Amorim’s cultural reset is why either player decided Old Trafford was the right place for them.

Mbeumo has already revealed talks with Amorim as being a key reason why he’s at the club, and Cunha’s familiarity with Amorim’s setup worked in United’s favour as well.

United have already seen that the most ambitious and talented players can lose their way if the environment around them is not conducive to success.

Mbeumo and Cunha and succeeding, but they are doing so because of the cultural reset driven by Amorim at the club.
