Rio Ferdinand has detailed what he wants to see from Manchester United moving forward after the late win over Fulham thanks to a last-gasp Bruno Fernandes goal.
Erik ten Hag punched the air in celebration and shared the nice moment with his coaching staff, the win for the Red Devils means they are just six points behind Arsenal and Liverpool.
Rio Ferdinand questioned Ten Hag’s style of play at Old Trafford in front of the Dutchman and the former Ajax boss delivered a rather blunt response to the ex-United defender.
Now, Ferdinand has once again questioned the Dutchman’s tactics and has urged the United boss to impose his style and structure onto the team.
Ferdinand’s demand
Speaking to TNT Sport ahead of United’s crucial UEFA Champions League clash against FC Copenhagen, Ferdinand has detailed what he wants from Ten Hag.
“I said this to Ten Hag after the game – when are we going to see your style in this team consistently? the Englishman said.
“If you haven’t got a style and structure within the team, all you do constantly is rely on individuals. That’ll only take you so far and give you a ceiling. To get through that ceiling, that structure has to be in place to give that platform to play.”
It’s hard to disagree with the pundit as United lurch from game to game with different tactics going into each encounter.
United’s struggles
All of the games that the Red Devils have won in the Premier League and Champions League this season have been by a solitary one-goal margin.
United have not looked convincing in any of their wins in the league this season. The only win this season that has been convincing, or by more than a goal margin, was the 3-0 victory over Crystal Palace in the Carabao Cup.
The Red Devils have the chance to end that run when they take on FC Copenhagen and Luton Town before the international break.
