Rio Ferdinand had admitted that one Manchester United star may well have a big decision to make in the future.
Manchester United picked up a massive 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at Villa Park with a late Scott McTominay header proving to be the difference between the two side.
The Scotsman has now scored seven Premier League goals for the Red Devils this campaign with the 26-year-old also seeing his side win the most amount of points because of his goals, with 12 points being because of McTominay’s goals.
However, the midfielder has been utilised as a bench option which could cause issues in the future according to Rio Ferdinand.

Ferdinand on McTominay
Speaking on talkSPORT, Ferdinand believes that if McTominay remains on the bench for the Red Devils then he could well consider his future at the club in the summer.
“I don’t think anyone has scored as many last-minute goals or late goals as him, as winners. He’s important to the squad you can see it, it’s there for all to see in black and white.
“I just think he’s got a big decision to make at the end of the season, there were rumours he was leaving in the summer, I think West Ham or someone were interested in taking him when Declan Rice left and you can see that.
“I think it’s up to him because he has the decision to make, does he want to stay at Man United and be somebody that can come on and impact games at times?
“Or does he want to go elsewhere and be a main, regular player in that team, a mainstay in a team that have probably got less aspirations than Man United, and obviously the glamour and the glitz that comes with Man United and hopefully building towards success.”
This summer will be an important one at Old Trafford and you wonder if the Scotsman would consider his future at the club if his time on the bench continues.
McTominay’s impact
From the bench, in recent weeks in particular, McTominay has been vital and his bullet header past Emiliano Martinez has kept the club’s hopes of Champions League football alive.
Erik ten Hag praised McTominay’s work ethic and claimed the midfielder would be happy with one minute or 90, which is a rarity in modern-day football.
How long McTominay would be happy with this impact role is the big question and he may have a big decision to make this summer.
