Report: United 'Confident' Of Wrapping Up £40m Centre-Half Signing

Reports suggest that Manchester United are confident of signing Toby Alderweireld for a fee of £40m.
The defender has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for a year and the Evening Standard reports today that United are positive about their chances of signing the Belgian.
Alderweireld is one of the best defenders in the Premier League, and the move is a logical one considering the gambles for Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof are yet to pay off.
The international player has suffered a number of injuries this season which have limited his first team appearances to just 21; Spurs’ decent form without him has convinced manager Mauricio Pochettino to sanction selling him as a way to raise funds.
While his injury record will raise some eyebrows, he has previously maintained a high level of fitness and there is no doubting his status as one of the best defenders in the league when available. He has failed to agree terms on a new deal and a reported clause in his contract states he can leave for £25m next year if no agreement is there; Spurs therefore have an incentive to cash in and apparently have already lined up a replacement.
Spurs are also set to allow Danny Rose and Moussa Dembele to leave; both of those players have been linked with moves to United in the past, with the latter surely a welcome addition should Jose Mourinho wish to launch a double raid on Spurs.
