Harry Maguire will not be moving to Manchester United today, says Leicester City boss Claude Puel.
Maguire has been linked with United – as has just about every centre half in the world – and reports yesterday suggested the World Cup star has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford.
However, Claude Puel has sought to end speculation, saying the move is “not possible”, after joking that Maguire would at least be playing at Old Trafford tomorrow.
“We lost Riyad [Mahrez to Manchester City], he was valuable for us but was important to keep all our best players.”
But the Frenchman added: “We have been speaking recently with the chairman and we cannot change our team just before a game just before the new season.
“It’s not possible. We have to prepare this season.
“It was important to give Harry the feeling to come back into a squad with good strength and good ambition.”
United have been linked with Diego Godin today; Atletico are said to have rejected United’s offer, though Godin does have a release clause.
