A leaked Champions League group draw allegedly predicts that Manchester United will be drawn in a very difficult group later today.
The leak – posted yesterday on Twitter – claims that United will be drawn to face German giants Bayern Munich, French side Monaco and Belgian team Club Brugge.
United have history against all three sides. They have faced Bayern Munich numerous times, most famously of course in the 1999 final when they won the Champions League with two injury time goals.
They have also faced Monaco – the French team were victorious on away goals in 1998 against an injury-ravaged United team. In 2015, United faced Club Brugge in the play-off for the group stages, coming out on top after a two-legged tie.
If this is indeed the real group United will play in, it will be a tremendous task for them to qualify. Monaco may have lost a fair few players but will be a tough task, particularly away from home, while Bayern will go into the group as obvious favourites.
