Inter Milan have emerged as surprise suitors for Manchester United under-21 defender Dishon Bernard.

Tuttomercatoweb report Inter Milan are interested in a move for Bernard.

The Italian side see Bernard as a cheap prospect who they may be able to buy low on, and develop into a player capable of contributing to their first team.

Other clubs are also claimed in the report to be eyeing the centre-back, but Inter are the only side named.

Inter Milan want Dishon Bernard

Bernard spent last season on loan in the Championship, and had an excellent start before a change of manager limited his game time.

He is capable of playing at right-back in addition to centre-back and the 21-year-old also has a loan spell at Salford City under his belt.

Bernard has one first team appearance for Manchester United, against Astana in 2019, although did feature for the first team in pre-season in 2021.

Bernard has barely been seen in pre-season this year and has not featured for the under-21s either.

The defender has a contract at Manchester United until 2024, after signing an extension prior to his loan move to Hull City last summer.

If a move to Inter Milan is presented, he should grab it, with no first team pathway available at Old Trafford at present.

There has been an increased market for young English footballers moving to Serie A over the past couple of seasons, with Fikayo Tomori and Tammy Abraham enjoying success in Italy.
