Erik ten Hag is getting frustrated about the impasse in the negotiations to sign Frenkie de Jong from Barcelona.

The Athletic have offered an update on the 25-year-old’s situation, saying that there will come a point when United have to decide whether to pull away from the deal.

But the report also says there is confidence that it will eventually get done, despite the current stalemate and frustration from the fans.

And the report also claims that ten Hag is starting to get a little frustrated over the lack of movement over the deal.

Ten Hag frustrated by de Jong impasse

Ten Hag knows the importance of getting the lower price in terms of leaving enough of the transfer budget for other targets.

But he also wants the player through the door as early as possible, to help him settle into life at Old Trafford as quickly as possible.

That would also help him get into pre-season as early as possible, although his exploits at the Nations League could earn him some extra time off.

But it seems ten Hag is already getting a little bit antsy over the issues we have seen plague various managers post Sir Alex Ferguson.

David Ornstein said this week that United are playing ‘poker‘ over de Jong’s fee, which is a dangerous game.

But Barca have also started their own posturing, saying that they have not got to sell anyone this summer and they have not budgeted for that.

It also seems that United are incapable of moving forward with multiple deals at once, with de Jong the priority but not much else moving forward in the background.
