Manchester United have learned who the referee will be for the Red Devils’ away trip to Goodison Park this weekend, and Harry Maguire won’t be happy.
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have had their fair share of poor decisions given against them this season with numerous goals that they have scored being disallowed by VAR.
Whether it’s the ‘offside’ goal scored by Scott McTominay against Fulham, Rasmus Hojlund’s goal against Brighton & Hove Albion, or Alejandro Garnacho’s tight offside goal against Arsenal, the Red Devils have been unlucky.
Well, the Red Devils have learned their fate for Sunday’s massive clash at Goodison Park and there may be a few collective groans from certain sections of the United team, Harry Maguire in particular.

Referee revealed
The Premier League have announced who the refereeing team will be for United’s clash against Sean Dyche’s men, who will be fired up after their 10-point deduction this week.
Below is the list of referees and officials for the game:
- Referee: John Brooks
- Assistants: Lee Betts, Darren Cann
- Fourth official: Andy Madley
- VAR: Chris Kavanagh
- Assistant VAR: Eddie Smart
Some eagle-eyed fans may well remember Brooks as he was appointed the referee for the Red Devils’ tight 1-0 win against Fulham at Craven Cottage.
The disallowed goal that should have seen United take the lead was ruled out due to Maguire allegedly being involved in play despite not touching the ball.
Maguire’s fury
“I wasn’t even involved, ref! Hey! I wasn’t even involved,” a furious Maguire told Brooks after the goal scored by McTominay was deemed to have been offside.
United won the game thanks to a late, great Bruno Fernandes goal but they certainly had to work for the result as Marco Silva’s side began to dominate in the second half but the game may have been out of sight had McTominay’s goal stood.
With this weekend’s clash against Everton set to be an affair that is sure to be full of crunching tackles to get the crowd on their side, the referee may be crucial.
The hope is that the officials will be on their A-game this weekend otherwise, the Red Devils may be in trouble.
