Manchester United’s attempts to sign Benjamin Sesko are ‘ongoing’ report ESPN.
Red Bull Salzburg are currently confident Sesko will stay, despite United’s attempts to sign the Slovenia international.
Salzburg sporting director Christoph Freund was asked about Sesko’s future at the weekend and believes he is better off staying put.
United lined up without a striker in the line-up for the first game of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion, and lost the game 2-1.

Salzburg director confident Benjamin Sesko will stay
Freund told Sky Sport Austria: “He’ll stay with us for sure. We’re the perfect club for him at the moment.”
He sounds very confident Red Bull Salzburg will be able to retain the striker, despite the clamour for his services.
Salzburg sold Karim Adeyemi to Borussia Dortmund for big money earlier in the window, and did not intend to lose Sesko until at least 2023.
Fabrizio Romano has confirmed this stance, that Salzburg insist they will not sell and will only consider doing so next summer.

This is where United could get a little creative, and offer a deal to buy Sesko now and loan him back for 12 months.
There is some debate whether Sesko is ready now, despite his £55 million price tag, and an extra year at Salzburg would of course be beneficial.
This would still leave United requiring additional cover right now, but at least a deal in advance would show some kind of plan for the future – something which has been sorely lacking in recent years.
