Charlie Savage has got off to a superb start at Reading since leaving Manchester United at the end of last month.

Young talent Charlie Savage is wasting no time at all showing Manchester United that the club made an error letting him go.

The 20-year-old went straight into the Reading starting line-up at the weekend, and created three chances on his debut.

Last night he played a starring role in a Carabao Cup first round victory, getting on the scoresheet as League One Reading beat Championship side Millwall 4-0.

Charlie Savage scores free-kick

Charlie Savage has been entrusted with set piece duty at Reading already and he is making the most of the responsibility.

The former Manchester United talent curled a superb effort into the top corner to net Reading’s third goal in the 4-0 away win.

He lauded the ‘amazing feeling’ and shared a clip of the goal via Instagram. It is well worth a watch.

Former Manchester United teammates react

Savage’s former Manchester United colleagues acknowledged his superb effort, responding to his Instagram post.

Zidane Iqbal and Nathan Bishop led the praise, with the latter expressing shock at Savage’s stunning goal.

The victory and goal capped a superb night for Savage, who had begun the game on the bench as the Royals rotated their starting line-up from the weekend.

He came on a half-time and made his 45 minutes count, working hard off the ball to make six recoveries, in addition to netting his stunning set piece.

Savage is now guaranteed to get a few more free-kicks over the course of the season. He will hope to hit them all as sweetly as he did last night.
