Rasmus Hojlund has hilariously revealed the reaction from Alejandro Garnacho after his Manchester United teammate set him up in the 2-1 win over Luton Town on Sunday.

The Manchester United striker opened the scoring in the first minute at Kenilworth Road after he pounced on a careless mistake from Luton Town’s Amari’i Bell.

However, Rasmus Hojlund wowed fans with an impressive second only six minutes later, as the United striker superbly chested the ball into the back of the net.

Alejandro Garnacho’s volley was redirected by the Denmark international, who manoeuvred himself with quick reflexes to put the ball past Thomas Kaminski.

Hojlund’s superb brace ensured United sealed all three Premier League points at Kenilworth Road, despite Carlton Morris pulling one back for Luton Town.

The 21-year-old Denmark striker, who arrived at Old Trafford last summer, has now scored eight times in his last eight matches for United in all competitions.

Hojlund has found the back of the net in his last six consecutive Premier League matches for United after entering a stunning run of form.

The Danish forward initially struggled in the league following his £72m move from Serie A side Atalanta, with Hojlund failing to score in his first 14 league matches.

Hojlund reveals Garnacho’s message to him

Manchester United are unbeaten since the start of 2024 and Erik ten Hag’s men have won six of their last seven matches across all competitions.

The Red Devils have built serious momentum in their bid to challenge for the Premier League top four, with United winning four consecutive league matches.

Erik ten Hag’s side are currently sixth in the league table and United are now five points behind fourth-place Aston Villa and three points behind fifth-place Tottenham.

Speaking to Premier League Productions, Rasmus Hojlund opened up about his second strike against Luton Town and whether or not it was a fluke moment.

The former Atalanta man insisted that he meant it and Hojlund was quizzed on Alejandro Garnacho’s reaction after his teammate inadvertently set him up.

When asked about Garnacho’s reaction during their celebrations, Hojlund responded: “He’s just saying, ‘assist, assist, assist!’”

Hojlund on scoring Man Utd’s second

Speaking to Sky Sports (via Manchester United’s official website), Hojlund insisted that he “100 per cent” meant his finish after Garnacho assisted him against Luton Town.

“Yeah, [I] 100 per cent [meant it],” he said after the match.

“I think you can see I took my body there and just flick it in.

“I was surprised that was such a good goal, to be fair, but yeah, I’ve actually tried to train to, not finish like this, but, like, shoulders and just, you know, when you do kick-ups and stuff and you just toggle it a bit with the ball.

“Also, at the moment, I have a lot of confidence, so yeah, it goes in.”
