Rasmus Hojlund suffered defeat on his Old Trafford debut as Manchester United were trounced by Brighton.

It was not the momentous Old Trafford moment Rasmus Hojlund hoped for on his first start at the Theatre Of Dreams.

The Denmark international was on the losing side as Manchester United were beaten 3-1 at home by Brighton and Hove Albion.

Hojlund did have the ball in the back of the net but it was ruled out after Marcus Rashford dribbled the ball out of play, per VAR.

Rasmus Hojlund message

Rasmus Hojlund sent a message out on Instagram to supporters, pledging to help Manchester United correct the recent slide in form.

He wrote: “We Will rise again. Thanks for the Warm welcome Old Trafford🫶🙏”

Hojlund two moments to celebrate torn away

Manchester United have lost three of five games to start the season, including the last two matches by a score of 3-1.

Hojlund featured in both games, against Arsenal as a substitute, and that was another game where he saw a moment to celebrate torn away.

Alejandro Garnacho’s goal at The Emirates was ruled out, just as Hojlund wheeled away to celebrate, and at Old Trafford, his passionate celebration to the crowd proved to be a false dawn.

It was a positive sign to see him score, a taste of things to come. When he was substituted on 60 minutes, the Old Trafford crowd expressed their displeasure.

Erik ten Hag is still trying to manage his fitness, and a big game awaits against Bayern Munich this week. Perhaps he will have better luck.
