Rasmus Hojlund sends message after Bayern Munich defeat

Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund has taken to Instagram after scoring against Bayern Munich on Wednesday night.

United headed away to Bavaria on Wednesday with Bayern Munich the first Champions League opponents of the season.

Erik ten Hag was desperate for a result after defeat to Brighton and Hove Albion, but it was a difficult night at the Allianz Arena.

Leroy Sane and Serge Gnabry put Bayern 2-0 up before Rasmus Hojlund pulled a goal back for United.

Hope quickly faded as Harry Kane scored from the spot, only for Casemiro to again give United a route back into the game.

Mathys Tel again restored Bayern’s two-goal lead with Casemiro’s second goal ultimately coming too late as United suffered a 4-3 defeat.

Rasmus Hojlund a rare bright spot

United’s defensive play this season has been a major concern.

That’s now 10 goals conceded in the last three games with United struggling to find some kind of stability at the back.

Bayern cut through at will on Wednesday but if United fans need one positive, it may just be Hojlund.

The summer signing from Atalanta arrived with a big price tag and plenty of question marks after just one season in Italy.

Hojlund has shown promise in his first few United appearances and got his first goal for the club against Bayern.

Hojlund’s goal may have been deflected, but they all count the same and the Dane will hopefully take real confidence from that strike.

Hojlund sends message to Manchester United fans

A third straight defeat in all competitions is hardly ideal and few United players are coming out speaking after that defeat to Bayern.

Hojlund has though sent a message on Instagram, stating that there is ‘definitely something positive’ to take from the performance in Germany.

The striker added that the United team stand together in the face of disappointing form and full focus has already turned to the weekend.

United will take on Burnley on Saturday night and will certainly be looking for another big impact from Hojlund.
