Rasmus Hojlund has insisted that the Manchester United team are firmly behind Erik ten Hag after another damaging defeat against FC Copenhagen.

The Danish striker scored twice for Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United but, similar to the Galatasary defeat, Rasmus Hojlund’s brace wasn’t enough for the victory.

United are now on the verge of being knocked out of the competition with a defeat against Galatasaray being all that’s required for the Red Devils to have their fate sealed.

Hojlund, however, has spoken about the togetherness in the squad and believes everyone is pulling in the same direction and that means backing Ten Hag.

Hojlund on squad togetherness

“A really good coach. He cares about every single detail, and he helps me a lot, gives me a lot of confidence and supports me,” Hojlund told the Manchester Evening News.

“I think every player in the dressing room support him. I hope it is just a matter of time (before United turn their season around).

“The first 30 minutes today was some of the best football we have been playing this season.”

The 20-year-old Danish striker seemingly has the mentality to succeed at Old Trafford and his public backing of the former Ajax boss can only be a good thing.

Hojlund receives criticism for celebration

One bizarre aspect of yesterday’s game was the criticism the Danish forward received for choosing to celebrate against the side he used to play for.

The home faithful were reportedly unhappy with the 20-year-old celebrating his two goals but the youngster, via Danish outlet Bold.dk, has responded to this criticism.

“Not at all (considered not celebrating). When I score, I cheer. Obviously, and I did it down to our own fans, so it had nothing to do with anything,” Hojlund said.

The former Atalanta forward is the only positive in a sea of negatives right now for United and the striker fronting up to speak to the media after a loss is exactly the sort of mentality that the club needs.
