Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund will have to wait a little while for his debut after arriving at the club with an injury.

The 20-year-old forward was unveiled as a Manchester United player at the weekend, posing with the shirt at Old Trafford.

He will not be ready to face Wolves for Manchester United’s first Premier League game of the season, so fans will have to be patient to see him in action.

Here is a look at everything we know so far about the Denmark international’s potential debut…

Rasmus Hojlund injury latest

Manchester United offered a brief statement on Rasmus Hojlund’s fitness battle this past Monday (7/8) offering mixed news.

The club stated: “It’s likely to be a few weeks before we see him with his boots on, due to a small issue he sustained in pre-season with his former club.

“Rasmus’s recovery is progressing well however, and we already know he’ll be itching to get out there as soon as possible.”

United have not detailed the precise nature of Hojlund’s injury, although Premier Injuries describe it as a ‘knock’.

‘A few weeks’ sounds less encouraging than we would have hoped, despite United trying to spin it by insisting his recovery is ‘progressing well’.

The Mail report Hojlund’s injury is a back problem. The club reportedly insist ‘there is no fundamental issue with his back and that all he requires is a period of rest’.

Rasmus Hojlund potential debut

If the schedule of ‘a few weeks’ is accurate, then Rasmus Hojlund could miss the following August matches against Wolves, Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest.

The Athletic report United are targeting involvement against Arsenal on September 3 for a possible debut.

If the club prefer to take it cautiously over Hojlund’s return, and keep him out during the international break to minimise further risk of injury, then his debut could come when the Premier League resumes on September 16 when Manchester United host Brighton at Old Trafford.
