Manchester United are now dealing with yet another nightmare injury blow, this time to Rasmus Hojlund.
Can nothing ever go right this season? At the start of 2024 we hoped the injuries might clear up.
No. Lisandro Martinez and Luke Shaw are both set to miss the next couple of months at least, and now Rasmus Hojlund is on the sidelines.
A club statement reads: “Rasmus Hojlund will miss Manchester United’s Premier League game against Fulham on Saturday due to a muscle injury. It is expected to keep him out for two to three weeks.”
While not worst case scenario, any time United are without the club’s first choice striker is bad news. And the timing is pretty bad.

Games Rasmus Hojlund could miss
In addition to the Fulham game this weekend, Rasmus Hojlund will certainly miss the FA Cup game at Forest and then the Manchester derby.
- Fulham (H)
- Forest (A) FA Cup
- Man City (A)
- Everton (H)
It is possible he could return for the home fixture against Sheffield United on March 16.
Losing Hojlund is a blow for United’s silverware chances and Champions League chase, with the club closing the gap to five points.
United lost away at Forest at the end of December, a game Hojlund missed through illness, and against City, you always need your best players.
Hojlund was in terrific form, scoring in his previous six consecutive Premier League games, setting a Premier League record as the youngest player to do so.
Anthony Martial also injured
Needless to say, Manchester United’s other striker, Anthony Martial, is also out injured.
In some ways you can have little sympathy for Manchester United with this situation.
The club came into this season with just Hojlund and Martial, and the latter does not really count at this point.
In January, Martial’s injury was apparent, and United still do not manage to get a loan deal in, at least, to provide another striker option.
This poor squad planning has left few options. Marcus Rashford is expected to play in a central role until Hojlund returns.
