Rasmus Hojlund has just achieved impressive feat not even Wayne Rooney managed to pull off

Manchester United might just have a proper goalscorer on the books after all, with Rasmus Hojlund scoring again.

Former Manchester United striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer once likened scoring goals to like squeezing a ketchup bottle, when talking about Alexis Sanchez.

He told The Guardian in early 2019: “You know that bottle of ketchup that you squeeze when it never comes [out] – but when it suddenly comes there’s loads? I’m sure he’ll be fine.”

Sanchez wasn’t fine – but the same analogy applies to Rasmus Hojlund, and it is working.

Rasmus Hojlund sets Manchester United record

Rasmus Hojlund is up to 10 goals for the season now, and has four of those in the Premier League, after breaking his drought against Aston Villa at the end of December.

The Denmark international has struck in four consecutive Premier League games, missing the match against Forest through illness, with the latest coming in the win over West Ham.

His goals have helped him create a small piece of history, on the day he turned 21.

Per Opta, Rasmus Hojlund has become the youngest Manchester United player to score in four consecutive Premier League games.

This is an impressive feat considering some of the seriously talented youngsters Manchester United have had on the books through the years.

It includes Cristiano Ronaldo, who took a little while to find his legendary scoring boots, and Wayne Rooney, who found them instantly, netting a hat-trick on his debut.

But not even Rooney, who signed for United at 18, could manage to score in four consecutive league games for the club by time he was 21, a feat Rasmus Hojlund can now check off.

Rasmus Hojlund on track

Manchester United will be pleased with how Rasmus Hojlund is developing. It is February and he has already reached double figures.

He was a striker known for his potential rather than his prolific record, so it was always going to be a case of learning on the job.

The fact it has not been easy, in a way makes it better, because Hojlund has had to work harder for it, and now he is getting his rewards.

There is a lot more to come, but real reason for the club to be encouraged by his progress.
