Rasmus Hojlund has given his verdict on the Marcus Rashford red card that swung the game in the Danish side’s favour.

Manchester United were in complete control during a rather comfortable first half in Denmark but the Marcus Rashford red card swung the game in FC Copenhagen’s favour.

Rasmus Hojlund looked outstanding throughout the game as he added two more goals to his tally, which has taken his total to five and he has become the fastest player to achieve that feat at Old Trafford.

The Danish striker, however, was understandably not happy with the decision to send off the United winger.

Hojlund on red card

Speaking to TNT Sport, via the BBC, the 20-year-old was understandably infuriated and believed that the Red Devils were good before the dismissal.

“The red card changed the game,” Hojlund said. “If you don’t look at the result and focus on the first 20 minutes, we did quite well.

“We switched off a little bit. We didn’t think we would play with one man down. It gave them belief, I know how the crowd can help the team out. It gave them a big boost.”

It’s hard to disagree with the former Atalanta striker, the football on show from the Red Devils, particularly in the first half, was some of the best seen this season.

Hojlund’s start

In a season full of disappointments, Hojlund is carrying the flag of positivity for the Red Devils and his two goals tonight highlighted why there was such a fuss about this youngster when he joined the club and why he is very quickly becoming a fan favourite.

The pace he has on and off the ball is frightening. He has the knack of being in the right place at the right time for the Red Devils which was highlighted by his simple first goal.

As the forward gets older, he will only get better for the Red Devils. His pace and directness make him an incredibly dangerous weapon on the counterattack.
