Rasmus Hojlund has explained his celebration following Manchester United’s 3-0 win over West Ham United.

The 3-0 victory for Manchester United against West Ham United was one of the best performances put in by Erik ten Hag’s side this season and was another sign that Rasmus Hojlund is beginning to settle into the rhythm of the Premier League.

After failing to score throughout nearly the entirety of the first half of the season for United in England’s top division, Hojlund now has four goals in four Premier League games and has looked the part.

His goal against the Hammers was a brilliant one with the original cut back onto his right foot sold the defence and he rifled it into the bottom corner past Alphonse Areola, who had no chance with the effort from the former Atalanta forward.

Hojlund explains celebration

After his well-taken goal in the first half, the Dane seemed to partake in a rather strange celebration with his leg being used as an air guitar and the 21-year-old has explained the reasoning behind this.

“It was very good,” Hojlund told Sky Sports. “It is always special to play on your birthday – I had the same last year. Today, of course, with a win, a very good win [meant it was special]. A goal from both me and him [Garnacho] and I’m happy.

“I have spoken about doing celebrations with my friends and they told me to do a guitar in the summer. I hadn’t done it yet, but today was the day.”

On him and Alejandro Garnacho getting themselves on the scoresheet, Hojlund added: “A month ago there was a lot of talk about us not scoring enough goals but we are both young and growing every day. You can see the connection between us.”

Young attacking pairing flourishing

This new look front three for United certainly has an air of inexperience about it with Garnacho,19, playing off the right and Hojlund, 21, with Marcus Rashford, 26, the experienced one of the trio.

With 18-year-old Kobbie Mainoo excelling in midfield for the Red Devils, this looks to be an exciting time for fans of United with a young and exciting core developing.

“The future for Manchester United is very good because we have high potentials,” Ten Hag said after the game and it’s hard to disagree with the Dutchman. The future certainly looks bright.
