Rasmus Hojlund delivers two-word response to San Marino team over ‘unacceptable’ behaviour

Manchester United forward Rasmus Hojlund has given a rather sarcastic reply about the treatment he received from the San Marino players last night.

A high knee from a San Marino player meant Rasmus Hojlund had to be replaced by Brentford’s Mathias Jensen in what could be yet another injury blow to add to the extraordinary Manchester United injury list.

Erik ten Hag has seemingly gotten the best out of the forward this season and the 20-year-old is becoming more and more confident as the days go by.

So confident, in fact, that it now seems defenders are targeting him; particularly his bad back which he suffered with before joining the Red Devils in August.

Hojlund’s Instagram post

The Danish forward posted on his Instagram story an image of the high knee into his back that left the 20-year-old in a heap on the ground.

“Good sportsmanship,” Hojlund wrote with a salute emoji accompanying it. It’s hard to disagree with the Danish forward and he now seems to be targeted by opposition defenders after a great start to life in Manchester for the 20-year-old.

Hojlund, speaking to Danish outlet TV2 Sport, gave his verdict on whether the challenge was a red card or not.

“The last duel has nothing to do with football. It ends up being laughable in the end. Such a duel must not just turn into a yellow card. It’s a knee in the back – straight red card if you ask me,” he said.

United’s unbelievable injury record

The injury crisis that United are in is verging on the unbelievable at times with the sheer amount of lay-offs Erik ten Hag has had to deal with.

Losing the young striker would be disastrous for Ten Hag, who needs the forward firing to get the Red Devils out of their current rut.

Hojlund also posted another message on his Instagram story about the incident, saying: “We do so much every day to be the best version of yourself and keep fit for so many games. This behaviour from San Marino last night, trying to injure me was unacceptable!”
