Rasmus Hojlund comments on partnership with one Man United star, he’s optimistic

Rasmus Hojlund may well be the only positive so far this season and the 20-year-old seems to be settling well in Manchester alongside another star forward.

The Danish forward has scored three goals so far for Manchester United and looks suited to leading the line for the club.

Rasmus Hojlund has formed a nice partnership with Marcus Rashford since the forward made his debut for the club against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium.

There has been some criticism of Rashford’s game so far this season, with the Englishman seemingly refusing to pass to the Dane at times but that issue has now flipped 180 degrees.

Hojlund’s goal

The Dane could hardly miss the cross from Rashford and that was simply down to the sheer quality and accuracy of the 25-year-old winger.

The cross was on a plate but Hojlund’s desire and his willingness to be in that situation meant he got himself an easy opportunity, something that another United striker Anthony Martial has struggled to do over the years.

Speaking after the game to MUTV, the former Atalanta forward spoke about his blossoming partnership with Rashford and the connection that the pair are developing.

“Like he [Rashford] said in an interview, we talk and he knows I’ll be there [to receive the ball] and we saw a glimpse of that today,” said Hojlund.

Rashford’s struggles

Despite the superb cross put on a plate for the 20-year-old forward, Rashford has struggled immensely this season and has just one goal to his name so far this campaign.

The Englishman, after receiving criticism for not setting up Hojlund enough, now seems too keen to set up his teammates and be seen as the creator in the side.

The Englishman was in on goal during the second half but, instead of shooting which seemed the easier option, squared it for Bruno Fernandes but the Galatasaray defence recovered.

Rashford’s poor form seems a small example of the bigger issues at the club, some of the players who were superb last season look a shadow of their former selves.
