Rasmus Hojlund has reached a milestone on loan at Napoli after playing a role in Antonio Conte’s side that lifted the Italian Super Cup in Riyadh on Monday night.
When Rasmus Hojlund left Manchester United on loan at the beginning of the season, Ruben Amorim would have hoped that Benjamin Sesko would step in and provide the goals.
That hasn’t been the case as Sesko adapts to the Premier League, but the Slovenian missed matches over the past month due to a knee injury. He has returned to the line-up and will be eager to build on his tally of two goals for the Red Devils.
Did Manchester United make a mistake sending Rasmus Hojlund on loan?
Meanwhile, Hojlund has been leading the line for Serie A champions Napoli. The 22-year-old striker, who scored 26 goals in two seasons at United, has hit the back of the net seven times this term.
Antonio Conte wants to keep Hojlund around, despite Romelu Lukaku’s return from injury set to increase competition for places.

Rasmus Hojlund reacts to Italian Super Cup triumph with Man Utd dig
Most people at United are eager to see Hojlund succeed on loan at Napoli.
The main reason for that is it would help United sell the striker on a permanent deal in the summer.
It remains to be seen if Hojlund will earn a permanent contract at Napoli, but the Denmark international has dropped his biggest hint yet that he could commit his future to the Naples-based outfit.
Napoli lifted the Italian Super Cup following a deserved victory over Bologna on Monday night. Brazilian winger Neres scored a brace to clinch the Super Cup for the third time in Napoli’s history.
Scott McTominay HIT OUT at claims United hold players back
What do you think of McTominay's comments? How much he is worth now?
Although Hojlund had the fewest touches (38) of any outfield player to play 90 minutes, he is happy to win a trophy early in the season.
Hojlund took to Instagram to share a picture lifting the trophy, along with the caption: “What a great decision looks like.”
This could be seen as a dig at United, as the quest to win a trophy became more difficult after crashing out of the Carabao Cup in the second round.
It is also worth remembering that Hojlund wanted to stay at United and compete with Sesko for a place in the team.
Chido Obi, Patrick Dorgu and Scott McTominay encourage Rasmus Hojlund
Hojlund won the FA Cup in his first season at United and was part of the team that finished runners-up in the 2024 Europa League.
After playing a role in the final win over Bologna with former United midfielder Scott McTominay, the Scotland international was one of the first to respond to Hojlund’s post on Instagram with three emojis: blue heart, love eyes smiley and a trophy.
United and Denmark left-back Patrick Dorgu also reacted with two love eyes smiley emojis, while Chido Obi shared a love heart emoji.
Obi has been in the headlines following some harsh words from Amorim in a recent press conference, but he has an obvious connection with Hojlund from the Danish national setup.
