Former Manchester United youngster Demetri Mitchell has picked out a best XI of players he trained and played alongside in the Red Devils academy.

Demetri Mitchell made one first team appearance for the Manchester United first team, featuring in 2017 against Crystal Palace under Jose Mourinho.

A loan spell at Hearts followed before his progress was halted by injuries, and the talented left-back was released in summer 2019.

Mitchell has since had spells at Blackpool, Hibernian, and Exeter City, and has been reminiscing about his stint at Manchester United.

Responding to a fan on Twitter, Demetri Mitchell, now 26, has picked out the best players he played alongside at youth level at Carrington, and there are some big names in there.

Also selecting himself at left-back, here is a look at the talented team Mitchell selected…

Where are they now…

Dean Henderson: Sold by Manchester United this summer for £20 million, Dean Henderson made 29 first team appearances and has also been capped by England once.

Demetri Mitchell: Now playing for Exeter City, Mitchell has two goals and two assists in eight games this season.

Paddy McNair: Promoted to the United first team by Louis van Gaal, McNair is now at Middlesbrough playing under Michael Carrick. He has 49 caps for Northern Ireland.

Axel Tuanzebe: Impacted by injuries in recent years, Axel Tuanzebe was released this summer and has just signed with Ipswich Town. He made 37 appearances for United and even captained the club in a Carabao Cup match.

Guillermo Varela: The talented full-back now plays for Flamengo in Brazil, after winning titles in Denmark and Uruguay. He made 11 first team appearances for United.

Andreas Pereira: Pereira only left United in 2022. He made 75 appearances for the Red Devils,scoring four times. He has rejuvenated his career at Fulham, scoring six goals for the club already.

Timothy Fosu-Mensah: Sold in 2021 to Bayer Leverkusen, Timothy Fosu-Mensah‘s stint at United was hurt by injury problems. He made 30 appearances for United.

Callum Gribbin: The only player on this list not to make a first team appearance for Manchester United. The former England youth international was released in 2019. He now plays for FC United of Manchester, where he is currently out with an injury.

Marcus Rashford: Still playing for Manchester United, Marcus Rashford is the highest active goalscorer at the club and recently signed a contract extension. Rashford has made 363 appearances for United and scored 124 goals. He has 55 caps for England.

Adnan Januzaj: Belgium international Adnan Januzaj is now 28 and plays for Sevilla. He made 63 appearances for United, scoring five times.

James Wilson: His career highlight may always be a brace on his Manchester United debut. He made 20 appearances in total. James Wilson was released in 2019 and currently plays for Port Vale.
