Manchester United defender Raphael Varane intends to stay put at Old Trafford.

Recent reports have linked Manchester United defender Raphael Varane with a move away from the club.

French outlet Sport Zone claimed Varane was a target for Saudi Pro League club Al Ittihad.

Karim Benzema was even reported to have reached out to his former Real Madrid teammate to try and persuade him to move.

Raphael Varane sends message

French football correspondent Julien Laurens this week moved to shut down the rumours. He wrote via Twitter that Varane is ‘very happy’ at Manchester United.

Fabrizio Romano pointed out that Manchester United do not consider Varane available for transfer.

Now, Varane has offered an indication his focus is firmly on Manchester United.

He sent out a message this morning via Instagram, with a picture of him kissing the United shirt, showing his focus is on the Red Devils.

Good news

Losing Raphael Varane would make no sense for Manchester United at this point in time. He is a key member of the first team and an automatic starter when fit.

It would be a problem if he turned around and said he wanted to leave. And there’s a chance he does want a new challenge in the future, or a less intensive schedule.

For now, Varane’s show of commitment is exactly what we want to hear.
