Raphael Varane has provided an update on his injury after going off against Brentford.
Manchester United have suffered yet another disappointing result as they drew 1-1 with Brentford on Saturday night but it was far more than they deserved.
The home side completely dominated proceedings, having 31 shots on goal, but just couldn’t beat Andre Onana despite hitting the woodwork three times and having a goal disallowed for off-side.
Then in the 96th minute, it appeared as if United had pulled off the mother of all smash-and-grabs as Mason Mount swept the ball home.
It would have been agonising for Brentford but Erik ten Hag’s side were unable to hold on for even the few remaining minutes of injury time as Kristoff Ajer tucked in the leveller.
Not only was it a terrible performance – in which only Mount and Onana had anything close to good games – but there was yet more woe on the injury front.
Raphael Varane was taken off at half-time while his fellow starting centre-back, Victor Lindelof, limped off in the second half.
Now Varane has provided an update on his condition.

Raphael Varane injury latest
Speaking to Manchester Evening News journalist Steven Railston after the match, Varane said that his injury was ‘not too bad.’
However, things don’t look as promising for Lindelof as Railston also reported the Swede was ‘limping as he left the stadium.’
Hopefully, Varane is okay ahead of a massive week in which United play Chelsea and Liverpool or else Ten Hag will again be low on defensive options.
Jonny Evans is also currently injured but there was at least one return on Saturday.
Lisandro Martinez is finally back
United’s numbers haven’t been bolstered given the knocks suffered by Varane and Lindelof but the sight of Lisandro Martinez taking to the field again was a sight for sore eyes.
The Argentine has only managed a handful of appearances this season as two significant injuries have kept him sidelined for the vast majority.
Martinez has been a huge absence with United unable to build out from the back as they would like without his distribution.
However, it looks like it might take him a while to get back to his best as he was clearly rusty on his long-awaited return.
Martinez was caught out when Brentford scored their offside goal and then gave the ball straight to Ivan Toney with a woeful pass he should have been punished for.
United will need him to get up to speed as soon as possible.
