Raphael Varane left the Manchester derby early after suffering an ankle injury. There is now encouraging news over this.
The centre-back has undergone a scan on his injured ankle, report L’Equipe.
The French newspaper report: “The first examinations passed by the French central defender are rather reassuring, there would be no ligament damage or bone tearing.”
He is said to have a ‘simple’ sprained ankle and is not expected to miss much time.

United and France need Varane back
Varane had been excellent for Manchester United this season, and the defeat to City was the first match he had lost in 2022/23.
Harry Maguire is also dealing with an injury sustained on international duty, so Varane will be needed back swiftly.
United won’t rush him, but it’s very possible he could miss fixtures against Omonia and Everton over the next week.
Beyond that, United will expect to get the Frenchman back for the home fixture against Newcastle on Sunday October 16, which begins a three game stretch of Premier League games with Tottenham and Chelsea set to follow.
United are still in sixth place despite the defeat, although have a game in hand on the league’s top three.
The scan results over Varane are not just good news for United, it will come a relief to France, with just weeks to go before the World Cup.
France rested him against Denmark last week and lost, and they will want Varane to arrive at the tournament in peak condition.
