Erik ten Hag signed six players during his first transfer window in charge of Manchester United.

Ahead of the January transfer window opening, United in Focus have had a go at ranking Manchester United’s 2022-23 summer signings at the season’s halfway mark.

Here is our rankings in descending order.

Ranking Manchester United’s 2022-23 summer signings

6 – Martin Dubravka

Signed on a season-long loan from Newcastle United, the Slovakian international has had to accept playing second fiddle to David de Gea.

The 33-year-old’s had to settle for appearances in the Carabao Cup with Ten Hag opting to field De Gea in the Europa League.

It seems a formality that United won’t take up the option of signing Dubravka on a permanent deal from the Magpies.

5 – Tyrell Malacia

It looked like a long way back for Luke Shaw under Ten Hag having been dropped after United’s woeful start to the campaign, but it’s the former Southampton youngster who looks in control of the left-back spot currently.

Malacia has only started one Premier League game since being brought off at half-time during the hammering to Manchester City at the Etihad.

The 23-year-old, who didn’t play one minute of the Netherlands’ World Cup campaign, started the dramatic win at Fulham at right-back with Diogo Dalot out through suspension.

4 – Antony

United’s number 21 got his Red Devils career off to the perfect start with him becoming the first Reds player to score in his first three top-flight matches.

However, the former Ajax man’s momentum has been halted with him missing United’s last five matches before the World Cup.

Antony did produce some eye-catching moments in Qatar, and it will be a big relief for Ten Hag to have his dazzling winger back available.

3 – Christian Eriksen

If it wasn’t for Lisandro Martinez and Casemiro, the 30-year-old would have been in our top two, possibly even sat top of the rankings.

If the 30-year-old maintains his impressive start to life at Old Trafford, his arrival as a free agent could go down as one of the club’s greatest and most astutest pieces of business.

Our number 14 leads the way in the assist charts (6) and his threat from deep has added a different dimension to what at times last season was a rather stale build-up.

2 – Casemiro

If only we had signed the five-time Champions League winner five or six years ago.

The Brazilian enforcer has been what we’ve been crying out for and desperately missing for years.

The 30-year-old is world-class, a serial winner and as Ten Hag describes him the “cement between the stones”.

The former Real Madrid man has knitted this United team together and his thirst and hunger to keep on winning should continue to be infectious in the United dressing room.

1 – Lisandro Martinez

It speaks volumes about the Argentinian’s start to life at Old Trafford that he is already considered a cult hero.

United’s number six is a warrior and he is exactly the type of player and personality that you want to go into battle with.

The Butcher is finally getting the credit and respect he deserves, and at the age of 24, it’s a scary prospect to think how good the fiery and aggressive South American could become in his prime.
