Ralf Rangnick says Paul Pogba may miss Arsenal and Chelsea games

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba went off injured against Liverpool after just 10 minutes.

The Frenchman hobbled off, with United already 1-0 down. The team went on to lose 4-0.

Gary Neville speculated it could the last Manchester United fans see of Pogba.

Ralf Rangnick spoke after the game and said Pogba’s injury would not be a simple recovery.

Pogba could be out for rest of the month

Manchester United have two more games left to finish off the month and Pogba could miss them both.

Rangnick told MUTV: “He pulled a calf muscle. I fear he will not be available for Arsenal or for Chelsea.”

United’s midfield options are severely limited already. Jesse Lingard replaced Pogba, with Bruno Fernandes dropping deeper to partner Nemanja Matic.

One positive was that Scott McTominay was back in the matchday squad for this game, although he clearly was not fully fit.

He will likely be back in the starting line-up against Arsenal. Fred could still be out injured.

United brought on youngster Hannibal Mejbri late on against Liverpool and the Tunisia international could be in contention too at the weekend.

If he plays and impresses, it could represent a changing of the guard, with Pogba being phased out.

The midfielder’s contract expires this summer, and despite United’s heavy defeat at Anfield, it is probably not inaccurate to say Pogba would not have made any difference to the end result.
